D428’s Education Center Lobby is proud to be home to a new 211 Kiosk. Thanks to the Kishwaukee United Way and generous funding from the DeKalb Data Center, families can also take advantage of this free, confidential service whenever they visit the Ed Center. 211 is a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week (365 days a year) information and referral helpline connecting individuals and families in need with access to available health and human services. You can also text 898-211 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
DeKalb County residents can connect to a wide range of services through the kiosk, which can also be accessed by phone or text, and an expert navigator will guide them to the help they need, regardless of the time of day, the language they speak, or where they live.
When installing the kiosk, Kishwaukee United Way Executive Director Dr. Michele Vaughn also presented the district with a $700 donation, which will be used to help students in the 18-22 Transitions Program purchase items for their new Beyond One Barb Center, which is slated to open in January 2025.

“We’re honored to partner with Kishwaukee United Way and offer access to this valuable resource for our families,” said Billy Hueramo, Director of Teaching and Learning, PreK-5. “Families and guardians visit our Education Center every day for a variety of reasons and having the 211 kiosk here is another way we can help support our community. The kiosk offers a convenient one-stop way to connect with services and assistance available in our community. I’m happy we can help make that connection for our families.”
The Education Center is located at 901 S. Fourth Street, DeKalb and open Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
