A New Chapter, Together
Hello DeKalb CUSD 428 students, staff, families, and community members,
I am incredibly honored to begin my role as superintendent, beginning July 1, 2026. District 428 has been my professional home for 18 years and my family’s home for 17. From starting as a student teacher and ESL instructor to serving as Principal of Littlejohn Elementary and Director of Teaching and Learning, my journey has reinforced one core truth: relationships and a student-centered mindset matter most.
As I begin in this role, I carry with me both excitement and humility. I know firsthand the impact that caring educators, supportive schools, and strong relationships can have on a student’s life because I lived it myself. My path wasn't a straight line. In college, I struggled until I realized how education could change my life. Recommitting to my purpose—alongside the discipline I learned in the U.S. Marine Corps—led me to a career I deeply love. Because I lived it, I know the profound impact caring educators have on a child's trajectory.
As we look ahead, my vision focuses on collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement. In my first year, I am committed to three key pillars:
- Sustaining Board Partnership: Building a strong relationship with the Board of Education rooted in mutual respect, open communication, and transparency.
- Unifying Leadership Culture: Strengthening a supportive district leadership culture from the district office to school buildings to improve alignment, collaboration, and staff perception.
- Driving Academic Growth: Partnering with school leaders to maximize School Improvement Teams, aiming for at least a 5% increase in students meeting or exceeding academic proficiency benchmarks in priority areas.
Every student deserves to feel valued and empowered to reach their goals. I am committed to being a visible, approachable leader who listens, learns, and works alongside you for the benefit of our students.
District 428 changed the trajectory of my life, and my promise to you—and to my own children who attend school here—is that we will keep creating those same life-changing opportunities for every single child who walks through our doors.
